Sixth Graders are Stepping Up
Stepping Up Sunday School For Rising Sixth Graders
Stepping Up is a special event for rising sixth graders and their parents. This is a special night of saying good-bye to Children’s Ministry and hello to Youth Ministry. There will be a special stepping up, transitional Sunday school class for rising 6th graders on Sundays beginning May 6 that continues through June 3. This class will help the kids learn what it is like to be a part of the Harvest youth group, teach them about the core values of HY5, and help them be ready to make that transition on Sunday, June 10. This class will be taught by Connie Campbell at 9:00 am each Sunday. On Sunday, June 10 at 9:00 am, rising 6th grade parents are invited to class to learn more about youth ministry opportunities at Harvest, including the rising 6th grade mission trip to Gainesville, FL on June 15-16.
Stepping Up Family Night
The stepping up Family Night event will be held at Harvest Friday, June 8, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, and will include dinner. Meet in the West Wing. Parents will have a time to learn about Youth Ministry at Harvest and kids will have time to get to know some of their new peers. There will be a special time for families to help their child in transitioning to Youth Ministry. Please RSVP for this event at ccampbell@harvest-umc.org by Friday June 1.
Stepping Up to HY5
Sunday, June 10 will be the first night rising 6th graders will attend HY5. HY5 is a Harvest Youth worship and small group experience that meets on Sunday nights from 5:00 to 7:30 pm. Dinner is served each week and costs $3. The kids will play games, worship together and then meet in small groups that are formed by age and gender. Each small group has designated adult leaders.
Stepping Up to Missions
Rising 6th graders are invited to serve on a special mission trip just for them. The group will leave after VBS on Friday, June 15 and travel to Gainesville, FL, stopping for lunch on the way. The will spend the afternoon serving at the Gainesville Harvest Food Bank. After dinner they will sleep at a local Methodist church in Gainesville. The next day they will drive to Ichetucknee State Park where they will go tubing. They will be back at Harvest before dinner on June 16. The price for the trip has been reduced this year to $40 and covers all meals and activities. All participants must have a completed medical release form on file at Harvest. Please register your child for this event by contacting Pastor Sarah Campbell at scampbell@harvest-umc.org. Registration is open and payment is due by June 1.

Ladies' Night Out
Please join Harvest Women for a special ladies’ night out Monday, June 11, 6:30 pm at Carrabba’s Italian Grill, 5425 University Parkway University Park, FL 34222. Women will change tables between courses, giving everyone the opportunity to fellowship and socialize. Total price for the event is $15.00 which includes soup or Caesar salad, bread, pasta and grilled chicken, mini dessert, coffee, tea, or soft drink, tax, and gratuity. You are invited to join Harvest women and their friends for a fabulous, relaxing, uplifting, and reinvigorating-your-faith weekend with Women of Faith. Women of Faith is a faith-based organization, encouraging women of all ages and stages in life to grow in faith and spiritual maturity through a relationship with Jesus Christ and an understanding of God’s love and grace. The Women of Faith weekend offers stories to encourage and inspire, music to set your spirit singing, drama to show us who we are, and so much more.
Retreat sessions are Friday, October 12, 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm and Saturday, October 13 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm in the Amway Center in Orlando. This year’s theme is Celebrate What Matters 2012. Check out www.womenoffaith.com for more information. Cost is $91 for event registration. In addition, hotel rooms can be reserved through a block set aside for Harvest. You will find registration sheets at the Hospitality Hub along with hotel information and additional details. Final payment is due July 31 and hotel needs to be reserved by September 12.
